Making friends is nothing new, but with facebook, you can actually make friends with people whom you’ve never met and develop personal relationships through your posts, photos and likes or dislikes. Social networking has given me the chance to meet and become friendly with an Internet guru named Mike Mueller from www.AreWeConnected.com. He lives in California, I’m in Short Hills, NJ, we’ve never met, but I consider him a friend.
Mike designed my wordpress blog that you are reading right now. He set up my facebook welcome page for my company Towne Realty Group which has over 1,000 fans, and he has done some truly creative marketing for me and my agents when we tried to make ourselves PINK for Breast Cancer Awareness month, last October. He also gave all of us at TRG, big black mustaches for Halloween and he has blogged about our Towne Team Spirit when we made our entire Brokerage go PINK with borders and ribbons around our headshot photos that were used in big ad campaign as well as on our website.
In return, I donated to his charity Movember, which brings attention to finding a cure for various men’s cancers, and at the end of this chain of events, we are now facebook friends; he is one of my peeps. I read his blog, enjoy his posts, introduce him to other people who may need his help and I rely on him for continually making my blog and social networking sites that much better.
So, Mike knows several THOUSAND people with whom he has either met at one of his many conferences or seminars, designed a custom facebook page or twitter skin, and he decides to pick his top 200 Real Estate peeps out of the group and make a LIST. Lucky for me he is generous enough to add me to the list and then he posts it on facebook, writes a blog and effectively introduces all of us to each other. He calls us the ‘Sharers, Engagers and Givers, and just as I posted on his wall, I will repeat again right here: “Thanks Mike! You made my day!”
